How Much Is a Geisha Show in Kyoto?
Geisha show prices in Kyoto, from a 15-minute museum Kyomai to a private maiko dinner: what each price buys, and the yen prices of Gion Corner and the dances.
A geisha show in Kyoto costs from $25 a person for a 15-minute Kyomai at a museum to $374 for a private dinner with a geiko or maiko (GetYourGuide checked November 2026; Viator checked November 2026), and the price tracks one thing: how long a maiko spends with you. In the shows, the dance itself lasts about ten to fifteen minutes. The evening on this page sits in the middle of the range: Ken’s Tours Kyoto’s Kyoto Gion Cultural Walk & Geisha Show with Dining Options, a 1.5 to 2 hour walk through Gion, then a 50-minute meeting with a maiko with one or two dances and time for questions, over lunch, tea or dinner chosen when you book, in a group limited to 9. It was per person from $85 in current promotion (usually $106), checked November 2026, with 700 reviews.
The calendar above is the walk with a maiko meeting. The three times are the three meals: lunch at 10:30 (a Japanese lunch plate), a tea break at 14:30 (a cup of tea), or dinner at 18:30 (eight sharing plates).

Theatre and dance prices, in yen
Gion Corner’s evening show costs 5,500 yen for an adult (23 and over), 3,850 yen from 16 to 22 and 3,300 yen from 7 to 15, with premium seats at 6,600 yen and tea-ceremony seats at 6,050 yen (its own page, read 3 November 2026). The district dances are priced in the same range as Gion Corner: the Miyako Odori in April 2027 from 5,000 yen to 8,000 yen with tea, 3,000 yen for students (Gion Kobu Kabukai, read 3 November 2026); the Kamogawa Odori ran in May 2026 at 4,000, 6,000 and 7,000 yen with tea; and the Gion Odori in November 2026 at 6,000 yen, or 7,000 yen with tea. These are bought from the theatre or the troupe, not through this site. Kyoto geisha dance seasons has the dates and how to buy.

What the price buys
Three things move the price, and the dance is not one of them. The first is time after the dance: a museum Kyomai ends when the second song does, a show adds questions and photos, a dinner adds two hours at the table. The second is the room: the shows in halls take 30 to 40 guests, a tea house or a machiya far fewer, and the private dinner seats only your group. The third is food and drink: most dinners include a course meal and unlimited drinks, which is most of the gap between a show and a dinner.

Two terms change the real cost. Cancellation: most of these listings allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before, the tea house and machiya dinners up to 7 days before, the museum ticket is non-refundable, and the private dinner is final once booked. And extras: the museum sells its photo sessions only at the museum, and the 1-hour show’s tea and snacks are included while other drinks and food are not.

For a first time, the middle rung is the one that answers most questions in one evening: you see Gion with a guide and then meet a maiko, for about three times the price of the walk alone. If the budget is tight, the museum Kyomai is the cheapest way to see a real performance; if the occasion is special, a maiko dinner gives you the most time at her table.
